A little Rest and Relaxation
My husband, Tony and I decided to have a nice weekend getaway before all the mayhem starts with both of our businesses, and also since it was Valentines Day and our upcoming Anniversary. We didn’t want to go anywhere too far since it was just for a couple of days. We had been looking at various locations for our staycation.
We decided to stay at The Watermark in Osoyoos, BC for Friday night and then Summerland Waterfront Resort in Summerland, BC, on Saturday, which was also Valentines Day.
The Watermark was nice and we were right on the lake with a one bedroom lake view suite. The check in process was a little bit slow because when we first arrived there wasn’t anyone at the front counter. There was a buzzer – which I pressed twice but it still took the attendant several minutes to appear. She was pleasant and informative though.
The resort was quiet for the most part as there were many seniors there. Later we found out that a lot of the snowbirds who can’t really afford to go away to Arizona or another hot climate, tend to come to Osoyoos since it is the warmest place in BC.
You definitely need to hit the Home Hardware store as it is pretty incredible. Be prepared to spend several hours perusing.
Now onto Summerland’s Waterfront Resort. We both preferred this resort over the Watermark. The check in process went much smoother and the front desk attendant made us feelvery welcome. We had a bottle of red wine in the room and the view was spectacular! It turned out to be a gorgeous day with the sun shining very brightly and it even reached 11 degrees.
We had homemade chips and dip at Local, which is the restaurant at the resort. They were very, very YUMMY! We couldn’t eat too much though as we had dinner reservations at Zia’s Stonehouse at 7:30pm, which is one of our favourite restaurants. Dinner was fabulous as always!
Later in the evening we went to the sauna and hot tub where we ended up meeting a few people and even some of our friends from Kelowna who were staying at the same resort (which we found out when we were in the hot tub). The resort was also full of a younger crowd that was more of our own age group.
All in all, it was a fabulous weekend and a much needed break for the hubby and I. If I had to do it again I would choose the Summerland Resort for both nights.
