A FREE Trip to Montreal – Part 1 (Day 1)

At the beginning of February my girlfriend, Nicole, sent me a text message telling me that she had won a trip for 2 to Montreal and asked me if I would like to go. Well of course I had to have more information.  Turns out she won the contest through BMW’s website and the trip was going to be in a couple weeks time.

The whole package consisted of airfare to/from Vancouver, 2 nights at the FairmonIMG_5197t in downtown Montreal, a $500 Visa card, $500 spa credit to Bota Bota Spa, a $2500 gift card and personal shopping experience at Holt Renfrew, all parking expenses, and use of a 2015 BWM X5 for the weekend.  Uhm, yeah, how could I turn that down – even if it was freezing there.

We left Vancouver on Friday, February 20th and we were on our way.  Neither of us had ever been to Montreal before so we were pretty excited.  Also, I have a sister that lives there so we made plans to meet up on the Saturday night for dinner.

The BMW representative, Laura, met us at the airport and went over the details and showed us the features with the BWM X5.  We then had to navigate through rush hour to our hotel to get settled.  After a few minutes in the room we decided to check things out.

We wandered around the underground shopping district for a bit but a lot of the stores/restaurants had already closed. We then wondered outside (brrrr, freezing cold without a winter jacket) to try and find a place to eat.  I got pretty excited as we found a vegetarian buffet restaurant called RESTO VEGO.  It was very good food and since I have been a vegetarian now for just over 10 years, I couldn’t have been happier. My girlfriend (meat eater) thought the food was quite tasty too.  Good thing too since the snacks in the room would have broke the bank.  Yikes!
