I am still trying to arrange my Soaping area so I have been very disorganized. I managed to make a bunch of Christmas Soaps last week but because everything was such a mess, I didn’t think I should record videos of those. Once I am fully set up then the videos will start again. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the pictures and videos.
I am thrilled with how this soap turned out. It is a new technique I tried so I thought it was best not to try and attempt a video. All day I was trying to think of what scent of soap to make and it finally hit me on the way home – Patchouli Orange. This scent always seems to be such a big hit and since I wanted to try a new technique – this was the perfect blend to try it with.
I decided to make a batch of Oatmeal Milk & Honey Soap. I made this a few years ago but it wasn’t a big seller. I am not sure why because it smells wonderful. I used colloidal oatmeal and ground oatmeal to add moisture and to help exfoliate your skin. There isn’t actually any milk or honey in this batch, it is only the fragrance oil that I used.
This is a wonderful blend of Lemongrass Essential Oil and Poppyseeds. It is a great exfoliating soap. It has been awhile since I added exfoliating properties so I thought it was time. I wasn’t in the mood for swirling and since it is lemony, I just wanted to make it yellow. The mixture played nice when I was making it and it turned out better than I had anticipated.
Well I think I did it – I made my first soapmaking video and hopefully there will be more to come. I was actually quite impressed with the videos and am in the processes of learning the software to edit them. For my first one – I think it turned out ok, with the exception of me talking too much!! LOL. It will be a learning curve but all in all, I can’t really complain. I will be using my iPhone to shoot the videos and for these two I ended up recording upside down. I managed to turn it right side up so it was salvageable.
I know they are long and I would like to work on that a bit more. I watch other soapmakers videos that are just as long too so maybe that is all right. I don’t really get tired of watching them as it is an addiction and I feel like my brain is a sponge when it comes to soapmaking, as I am always wanting to learn new techniques and designs.
Hi, My name is Crystal and my company is Head 2 Toe. I make handcrafted Soaps and other Bath and Body products and I live in the beautiful Okanagan Valley in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. I love making soap and have always felt that I am not creative. I was never any good in art classes (even though I wanted to be) but find that soapmaking brings out my creativity. It is challenging though as it never quite turns out like what I have envisioned in my head. This is my very first blog posting from Head 2 Toe. I created this account in 2009 and never did anything with it until now. I am now inspired and have been slowly learning about blogging and the blogging community.
